Providing owner’s project management and regulatory advisory services for BMC’s 2M square foot campus

The Boston Medical Center’s (BMC) Preservation Plan identifies historic buildings owned by BMC, focusing on buildings that are more than 50 years old, that are no longer feasible to reuse for critical healthcare services. Once identified, the team incorporates these properties into the five-year plan. After that? The plan is used to achieve approvals by the South End Landmarks District Commission for demolition and replacement with new state-of-the art clinical facilities.

Our Project Management group was an integral component in obtaining the approval for one of the Preservation Plan’s marquee projects, the Dowling Tower, which will be demolished and replaced by a 250,000 square foot, 14-story tower. The project also includes 220,000 square feet of renovations to adjacent sites and plans to create a connecting bridge, emergency department, imaging, operating room expansion, and new helipad.

With the replacement of the Dowling Tower, Boston Medical Center will be able to provide expanded services in a cutting-edge setting.
