Curtin House, 60 Beaufort Street

Curtin House is a functional and crucial operational building for the Western Australian Police Department (WAPOL). The three lifts servicing the building at 60 Beaufort Street in Perth's central business district were originally installed in the 1970's and had become unreliable and unserviceable. Careful programming of works was needed to ensure continuation of critical crime investigation activities during the replacement.

Our vertical transportation team undertook an assessment of the lift provision for the 10-storey tower and with BMW's agreement prepared a Technical Specification and Conditions of Tender for the replacement of the lifts and associated equipment. Proactive liaison with the contractor and client helped manage expectations when the unreliability of the original lifts resulted in program issues. Our team carried out superintendence of the contract including management of the construction phase, technical review, and issue of the Certificate of Practical Completion.

Excellent communication and management skills were necessary to maintain good client relationships through a trying construction project. Our work was commended by the client at project close for the positive outcomes achieved.
