Greater Nashville Regional Smart Mobility Assessment

Planning a future that is connected, mobile, and smart

    Nashville, Tennessee

The Greater Nashville Regional Council has a plan for regional smart mobility.

The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) is dedicated to maintaining the long-term livability of the region surrounding Nashville, of which its multi-modal transportation system plays a critical role. Their goal was to set forth a smart mobility assessment plan detailing how to effectively use emerging technologies to improve and optimize the safety, efficiency, and convenience of transportation systems.

We worked with the GNRC to create a detailed assessment to serve as a framework for key stakeholders to follow when implementing emerging technologies. Holding public outreach meetings with community members and technology interviews with transportation professionals helped us understand current practices and informed reports on the current state of technology, best practices, and the region’s vision. We also identified and prioritized the technology needs for smart mobility implementation into short and long-term strategies alongside separate funding strategies.

The result? The Regional Smart Mobility Assessment defines how Greater Nashville can utilize smart mobility strategies and thrive in an environment offering all modes of transportation and vehicles that are connected, shared, and even autonomous.
