Brooks Landing Urban Renewal District - Sub-Area I
We worked closely with our longtime client, the City of Rochester, as well as the developer, the developer's financial institutions, New York State (NYS) Department of Environmental Conservation, and the NYS Health Department to develop and implement remedial cleanup programs and a soil and groundwater management plan for the redevelopment of the Brooks Landing site.
The site used to host a canal, railroad line, gas station, and an auto repair, which meant the new development would need environmental remedial measures. Source material impacted by chlorinated solvent was removed and a hydrogen release compound was placed in the water table to treat solvent-impacted groundwater. Gasoline-contaminated groundwater was treated through a series of vacuum extractions at the former gasoline station. A sub-slab depressurization system, including the application of a Liquid Boot vapor barrier, and soil management activities were designed for the hotel project.
A hot spot removal program was completed involving heavy metal and PAH impacted fill materials and utility relocation required asbestos abatement. We designed and implemented the soil and groundwater management plan and associated remedial measures.
