Delivering power and lighting solutions in tight environments to enhance luxury living on the Gold Coast

Jewel is a three-tower luxury beachfront resort development located on the Gold Coast. The glass towers rise to 38, 42, and 45 storeys over a common three-level basement and a further three levels of podium. The development provides 5-star hotel and residential accommodation to Surfers Paradise.

Our team was engaged by BlueStar Pacific as the electrical consulting engineers to design the power reticulation, back-up power generation, lighting, emergency lighting, and lighting controls. Our design included distribution of power from 5 1.5MVA ground mounted transformers, coordinating with the complex volumetric lot configuration and corresponding large power loads. Further, backup power generation was provided by multiple diesel generators and lighting was designed and coordinated with the client and architect. Space for services was our greatest challenge, but experience with Revit and NavisWorks assisted the design process to deliver solutions within extremely tight environments, while cost-effectively maintaining access and maintenance space.

When complete, the towers deliver 512 residential apartments, a five-star hotel with 169 suites, and a high-end retail and dining precinct all seamlessly linking to the Surfers Paradise beachfront.
