Kinngait New Health Centre Commissioning

A facility that answers the need for better medical options in Northern Canada

Centralizing essential healthcare services

Located in a remote area, the hamlet of Kinngait (formerly Cape Dorset), was facing a lack of convenient healthcare options. Something needed to be done to centralize essential community health services, and our team was there to help.

Serving as the owner’s commissioning agent, our team was responsible for reviewing all mechanical and electrical systems. The facility was designed and commissioned using specific standards with unique design challenges and performance requirements that needed to be considered from concept to building occupancy. The commissioning check-sheets and tests were completed online using our innovative “cloud-based” CxAlloy Software. This allowed owners, contractors, designers, and commissioning personnel to track and comment on progress and issues remotely. We coordinated and developed a building operation and maintenance manual (BOM) and created a building maintenance guide with instructions on how to operate, service, and maintain all building systems.

Now complete, the facility includes public health clinics, emergency treatment and stabilization (for med-evac), imaging and diagnostics, telehealth, and a morgue. The result? This northern community now has access to healthcare services they can rely on.
