Catering to the local community’s healthcare needs

We provided the complete master-planning, design and engineering services for this replacement community hospital campus. The goal? To provide the community of Al Silaa and surrounding communities of Al Gharbia region of Abu Dhabi with key services they can rely on.

Designed to the requirements of Facilities Guidelines Institute and Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility guidelines, a total of 36 inpatient beds are provided including medical, surgical, and critical care beds, as well as VIP patient suites. The hospital offers emergency services, as well as ambulatory medical care in the fields of internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat, physiotherapy and renal dialysis. All key departments and support units associated with a general hospital have been provided including radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, surgery, food services, laundry and a central sterile services department.

The development also includes ancillary buildings—a mosque, a mortuary building, electric substations, and a Helipad. Staff housing and amenities are also provided on the campus. To top it off, the design uses a contemporary palette of design elements, addresses the cultural and climatic context of its location, and uses a number of engineering and architectural best practices to be sustainable.
