Lachlan’s Line Bridge
Providing a safe way for pedestrians and cyclists to cross a busy motorway is reward enough. However, we are also happy to acknowledge our role on the multi award-winning Lachlan’s Line bridge project in Sydney, Australia. The striking, curving helix design supports a two-way cycle and pedestrian path over its 178 metre length above the M2 Motorway.
We were engaged by our client, Landcom, to perform project verification services for both the design and construction phases. To ensure efficient and accurate construction of the unique structure, we conducted design verification reviews for the 15, 50, 85 and 100 per cent, and IFC stages. On site during construction, we also provided construction phase services including site surveillance and reviews of quality documentation.
The bridge opened in May 2020, safely connecting Macquarie Park and the North Ride station for pedestrians and cyclists. As well as being a useful and visually exciting addition to the landscape, the bridge also makes it easier for people in the community to access public transport helping reduce carbon emissions.
