Mendocino County Department of Transportation Bridge Replacement Projects
When the Mendocino County Department of Transportation needed to obtain California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance for six bridge replacement projects, we conducted the supporting studies for the permit applications. These projects were federally funded and required Caltrans approval.
Our environmental specialists worked on various biological and archaeological studies. The environmental documentation we provided for the projects was extensive and included historic property survey reporting, CEQA mitigated negative declaration, a mitigation monitoring and reporting plan, and many others. The biological studies included floral and faunal resource surveys, a study to support Endangered Species Act section 7 consultation with the National Marine Fisheries Service and California Endangered Species Act Section 2080.1 consistency determinations, and a delineation of US waters to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
We also helped secure permits in linear transportation, streambed alteration, and water quality. Currently, we’re providing riparian wetland mitigation monitoring services on three of the bridge replacement projects.
Three bridges have been constructed so far, and when all six are complete, this replacement project will provide a safe, environmentally-sound set of infrastructure assets for the Mendocino County community.
