Bristol Temple Meads Station Roof Refurbishment
Originally constructed between 1871 to 1878, Bristol Temple Meads railway station is vital to the city's heritage and transportation network—around 10 million passengers pass through this hub each year. Network Rail is regenerating the station to meet growing demand, transforming it into a world-class station while creating a cleaner, brighter experience for passengers and preserving it for future generations.
Bringing our extensive knowledge and skills to the project, we're supporting Taziker on behalf of Network Rail to improve the passenger experience and prolong the life of this Grade I listed building. As the lead designers, we're responsible for designing temporary works including scaffold foundations and signal moves, glazing design, structural assessment, metalwork, and timber repairs. In addition, we undertook environmental surveys and provided consultancy on listed building consents.
With extensive metallic and woodwork repairs underway, along with the complete reglazing of existing rooflights and gable ends, the refurbishment of the roof is the first significant upgrade of the station fabric in over 25 years. With improved rooflights, Bristol Temple Meads railway station is on track to illuminate the passenger experience.
