QEII Central Energy Plant – ICT Provision
The construction of Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre’s Central Energy Plant (CEP) was a strategic project to facilitate future development of the health campus. Stantec’s buildings consultants worked on the phased delivery of the managed contract with Brookfield Multiplex, providing all disciplines for the CEP’s design and construction. In particular, our ICT specialists delivered a centralised, building-wide management and monitoring tool to assist with ‘report and response’ around plant failure.
Our system offers full visibility of onsite maintenance activity performance and includes alarm monitoring. We introduced an integrated extra low voltage system (IELVS) to provide a robust, fault-tolerant and concurrently maintainable platform for hosting the building management software. With this system the CEP benefits from a virtualised server environment that supports remote access, purpose-built software for collecting data from sub-systems, and a customised graphical user interface.
Stantec’s tailored ICT building management tool provides instant information regarding performance, alerting personnel when maintenance is required thereby minimising the occurrence of plant failure.
