Digging up opportunities for a predicted 24-year life of mine

Located 140 kilometres to the west of Fortescue’s Solomon mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, the Eliwana mine spans over 50 kilometres and contains a significant amount of bedded iron ore with a high iron content.

When Fortescue Metals Group needed a new mining ore hub, our team provided the feasibility study, definitive feasibility study, detailed design, and package management. The scope included the mine’s ore processing facility, mining development, and associated infrastructure such as mine roads, buildings, camps, telecommunications networks, electricity, water, sewage, and wastewater facilities. We also provided a feasibility study, the detail design, and package management for the rail link.

The operation includes 143 kilometres of rail linking to the Hamersley rail line and a 30 million tonnes per annum dry ore processing facility. With the project now complete, Eliwana has the capacity to direct load onto trains up to 9,000 tonnes per hour of product.
