Student housing success: How P3 helped UC Davis meet its goals

UC Davis Green at West Village Student Housing

Faced with a rapidly growing student body, the University of California (UC), Davis needed a sustainable housing solution. They brought us and our public-private partnership (P3) team in to plan, design, engineer, and manage the largest student housing development in the US at the time—The Green at West Village.

The design intent and constructability of the program complemented a fast-track, multiphase project delivery. Phase One included the first three residential buildings, a utility building, and outdoor courtyards between the residential buildings. Phase Two delivered the remaining residential units and a community center. The complete development includes nine four-story residential buildings, a 10,000-square-foot community center, and a maintenance center constructed using a prefabricated Prescient structural system atop of concrete slabs on grade. With more than 3,300 beds, The Green is currently one of the largest net zero communities in North America, generating as much energy as it uses within a year.

Now, UC Davis has much needed additional housing for students—a place for them to live, grow, and connect.
