3-62 Seal Beach Pump Station Rehabilitation

Originally constructed in 1972, Orange County’s 30-mgd Seal Beach Pump Station is one of the County’s oldest and most vital pump stations, providing Seal Beach and surrounding areas with their only means of pumping wastewater to the Orange County Sanitation District’s largest treatment facility in Huntington Beach. With two severely damaged pipelines that regularly clog and control systems that are rapidly becoming obsolete, the Station is in dire need of rehabilitation and we’ve been brought in to help.

Our team is currently rehabilitating the Station’s two severely damaged pipelines while also keeping the Station operating at peak speed and working around the surrounding high-traffic city streets. Due to its significance to the County and location—it’s located at an intersection with high traffic counts—the Station must be kept in service throughout construction. In addition to the rehabilitation, we are also analyzing the Station’s upstream trunk system to determine the best area to begin construction of four new facilities for odor control systems throughout the region.

Once complete, this project will replace an aged and critical pump station and force mains that pumps up to 30 mgd to the District’s largest treatment facility.
