Greenwood Village Public Works Facility

When the City of Greenwood Village acquired a parcel of land northwest of and adjacent to their existing Public Works Facility, they knew they needed a plan to maximize the use of the expanded site. The City engaged us to produce a master plan and design that incorporated the needs and functions for all six public works departments—Administration, Facility and Fleet Services, Parks and Trails Maintenance Services, Environmental Services, Road Services, and Traffic Services—onto the site.

After analyzing the size and facilities, we determined that the existing administration and fleet building could be remodeled to include expanded offices, traffic control, crew areas, a dividable multipurpose room, exercise room with showers and lockers, and heated vehicle storage. It could also house expanded wood, metal, and paint shops to help meet the bigger role the City wishes to play in community events and fairs. We also proposed new structures for the site.

As a result of the master plan, the City elected to have us proceed with recommended projects. These included designing a new maintenance facility, new sand/salt building, and three new roof canopy structures as well as remodeling the existing heated storage building and converting an existing shop building into a new crime lab.
