Condor Cliff and La Barrancosa Dam Projects
Located close to the southern tip of Argentina, the Condor Cliff and La Barrancosa Dams are part of the Santa Cruz River hydroelectric development projects. When complete, they will be the southernmost hydroelectric plants in the world.
We’re carrying out the basic engineering and executive design of all civil works for these projects. This involves developing the loose material dams and concrete works at each site, as well as coordinating and integrating the hydroelectric and mechanical equipment.
The Condor Cliff hydroelectric facility will include a 70-metre (230-foot) high gravel dam, concrete face, and powerhouse with an installed capacity of 950 megawatts (MW). The 35-metre (115-foot) high La Barrancosa Dam will undergo similar construction but contain a powerhouse with an installed capacity of 360 MW.
During construction of the dams and hydroelectric facilities, the local communities will benefit from increased economic activity in the area. When complete, the communities will not only have improved access to energy, but the two large reservoirs in this arid area will support the development of tourism and real estate ventures.
