Grand Lakes Estate

Whether one building, or an entire residential development, as urban areas grow, we must be ever more creative in how projects integrate with the environment—it’s what clients expect and communities demand. This was our goal for the Grand Lakes Estate, in Lara near Geelong, a residential development delivering 800 lots with three ornamental lakes, wetlands and landscaped parkland, four kilometres of mixed-use trails, and nearly one kilometre of boardwalks.

Our focus was on the design and management of the water infrastructure. This included the design of extensive wetland and open water elements throughout the development, as well as waste-water treatments including a sewer pump station, and a rising main design. This culminated in the structural and civil design, and construction management for a culvert bridge crossing the wetland and forming the centerpiece of the development.

As the lead consultant, we provided services including town planning, survey, civil design, structural design, design of internal roads, project management, and contract administration. We also provided liaison with the local council and service authorities. Taking a creative approach paid off in awards from the Urban Design Institute of Australia for Design and Environmental excellence. We believe these awards reflect our commitment to technical excellence and passion for the project, a desire to create better outcomes for communities, and a determination to help clients realise their vision.
