Corrigin Bike Plan

Corrigin, located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, is a thriving community about 229 kilometres (142 miles) southeast of Perth. When the Shire of Corrigin wanted to reduce their carbon footprint by creating a cycling network, they engaged us to undertake a 10-year regional bike plan for the Corrigin townsite.

We proposed a bike network plan that aligns with the Department of Transport's cycling route hierarchy. Our plan also outlined a prioritized action strategy for implementation—actions that would help the Town respond to future issues such as network improvements, connecting the community, end of trip facilities, and changes in cycling behaviour. Each of these issues could have the potential to impact a user’s mode choice away from cycling, so addressing them in our plan was integral to promoting a safe and efficient route for people to ride.

The bike network plan provides a way for people to get around more easily by bike. And by changing people’s transportation choices from cars to bikes, the Shire will reduce its carbon emissions for the betterment of the community.
