Renewing critical water infrastructure for local communities

Many residents in the Cairns region receive their water supply from three reservoirs—Henley’s Hill No. 5 in Earlville, White’s Gap No. 1 in Kanimbla, and Janett Street in Yorkeys Knob—all of which have been in service for more than 30 years, including one for over 55 years. The Cairns Regional Council knew it was time to enhance and update this system.

Our local team conducted all structural inspections, including the design and documentation of remediation works for all three reservoirs. Following this assessment stage, we completed work plans for each reservoir that would keep the water flowing while work was underway. We also prepared the request for tender documentation according to the Council’s General Procurement Policy.

Cairns Regional Council’s steps to maintain the integrity of these reservoirs will keep their communities supplied with water for years to come.
