Opal Carine

Opal Aged Care provides specialist care facilities across Australia. When they wanted to introduce a new care home on Silica Road, Carine, we contributed a full team of building service engineers to the design, documentation, and construction.

The new purpose-built, 150-bed facility—designed by Silver Thomas Hanley—is arranged over two levels to provide premium single bedrooms with luxurious living areas and landscaped courtyards. Acoustics were addressed within the shared living spaces to offer comfort to residents, and we contributed careful assessment and consideration to comply with fire safety and protection guidelines. The building features shared living and dining areas and a two-level void within the structure which resulted in the need for additional beams—reducing the ceiling space for building services reticulations.

Our team produced a full 3D Revit building information modelling (BIM) representation of the services proposal. This was crucial to the successful identification of alternative routes and helped simplify construction in the available space.

With a focus on community and needs-specific care, the new Opal Aged Care facility will provide a place where residents can live the life they want.
