Integrating diverse services and needs in a leading medical facility implementation

The latest addition to Adelaide’s BioMed City on North Terrace is the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy and Research—the first facility of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Our job? Providing technical peer-review of the electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire protection, fire engineering, and vertical transportation aspects of this clinically demanding brief.

To facilitate safe operation, specialist proton therapy technology is incorporated into purpose-built accommodations in the three underground levels. Arranged over 15 levels, the 32,000 square metre (344,000 square foot) building provides the latest in high quality research and laboratory space, along with office accommodation and clinical trial rooms.

Once construction and extensive testing are completed, the $500 million facility will provide vital non-invasive radiotherapy treatment to South Australians and creating opportunities for international research.
