After partnering with UBCO for years, we have now introduced a five-year scholarship for future engineers from underrepresented communities
For over 10 years, Stantec has been teaming up with the University of British Columbia to provide scholarships for students studying architecture and engineering. This year, we are proud to partner up with the Okanagan campus (UBCO) to present a five-year scholarship for Indigenous students enrolled in the School of Engineering.
The Stantec Indigenous Scholarship will recognize academic achievement and award students entering their third year of study. The latter years of the program can be more challenging for anyone in the Engineering program, especially for those where the financial cost of post-secondary can present an extra burden.
Stantec is honored to help the university retain their Indigenous students, celebrate the success of these hopeful graduates, and provide support for talented Indigenous engineers. Indigenous students have been known to return and advocate for their own communities, and we hope each UBCO graduate feels empowered to return to their respective communities equipped with the skills to make a positive impact.
Our donation of $5,000 per year will be matched by UBCO which will provide 10 students with scholarships over the next five years. We are excited to support the university and provide valuable opportunities for Indigenous students to complete their studies and begin their engineering careers.
