Tacology

We designed this vibrant restaurant in Miami to offer residents an authentic Mexican ‘mercado’ experience set against the modern architectural backdrop of Brickell City Center. To create this market atmosphere, we made several kitchen ‘pods’, each offering different types of dishes and distinct design elements. The restaurant has an open-air character, expressed through the use of three glass folding doors that merge the indoor seating with the terrace.

The open 25 foot ceilings offer a design opportunity for beams and suspended lighting elements to ground the seating areas. Two exterior trellis elements draw attention to the space, merging the indoor and outdoor experience of the terrace, and pops of color add life throughout the restaurant with materials and décor drawing from the vibrant culture of Mexico City.

The materials are industrial and rustic, giving the space a timeworn feel, and the restaurant’s contemporary taco pod concept brings new light to this unique and dynamic dining experience.
