SWAC - Stormwater Quality Management Plans
Today, Southern Indiana is nationally recognized for its approach to stormwater quality management, an accomplishment we helped guide and continue to maintain. Since 2004, we’ve worked with the communities of Clarksville, Jeffersonville, Madison, New Albany, Oak Park Conservancy District, Sellersburg, and Floyd County to develop and implement their individual Stormwater Quality Management Plans.
We recognized each of the municipalities had similar needs, so we coordinated with local officials to form the Southern Indiana Storm Water Advisory Committee (SWAC). Today, the SWAC is a regional partnership whose core function is to guide stormwater quality programs in a cost-effective, consistent, and efficient manner.
The creation of the robust SWAC partnership allowed us to develop a consistent approach to municipal facility management, while allowing for flexibility and customization for each type of municipal service.
With our guidance, the SWAC developed numerous reports, operational and guidance plans, and more, while optimizing efficiency and saving money for each municipality. Six SWAC communities have received awards for their programs.
