Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority - Hydrogen Fueling Station
California has a climate plan to achieve net zero carbon pollution by 2045. One step is to reduce vehicle emissions. To align with sustainability objectives set by the City of Livermore, the Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) aims to transition to zero emissions by 2034. They’re working towards decarbonizing their entire bus fleet of 50 buses and other light-duty vehicles by developing a hydrogen fueling facility. They engaged us to help.
We’re leading the technical development of a hydrogen fueling facility that is planned to support two quantities of fuel cell electric buses (FCEB). The project scope includes preparing 60 percent complete design documents, with the selected contractor scoped to complete the drawings. Phase 1 design will accommodate up to 40 initial FCEBs and will also provide hydrogen fueling for light-duty fuel cell electric vehicles. For Phase 2, a second hydrogen tank will be added.
When complete, the hydrogen fueling station will help LAVTA curb their greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to cleaner air and transportation equity within the Livermore community—taking another step toward California’s plan for decarbonization.
