Pulp Machine Press Section and Drives Upgrade

After our client acquired a mill property, they needed to modify their assets and operations to support a higher throughput and a different basis weight. To achieve this, they needed to upgrade the machine section drives and upgrade the press section to facilitate the removal of the additional water brought on by the new operational conditions.

Our job? We completed the design and fit up of the vendor press equipment and mapped out the integration of the new controls for the new press and the new drives. Our multidisciplinary scope covered mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering on the equipment integration. We used 3D scanning and modeling and a progressive client review approach to keep the client up to date and see that their needs were being met with an accurate design, clear construction package instructions, and no rework.

We also helped the client track and manage vendor progress, checking fit ups in a virtual space to expedite the overall project process. When construction began, we acted as a technical point of contact to review and inspect progress virtually.

With these upgrades in place, our client was able to get the most out of their newly-acquired mill property.
