Thinking outside the box to alleviate traffic congestion in a heavily traveled corridor

Bryan Dairy Road (CR 296) - Starkey Road to 72nd Street North

Bryan Dairy Road is a heavily traveled corridor that required improvements to alleviate traffic congestion. This mixed industrial and residential district had unique design challenges due to multiple intersections, a railroad crossing, and stormwater retention systems that created area constraints. The client chose our team to help create a new vision for this corridor and improve traffic slowdowns.

We designed a wider corridor, converting this stretch from four lanes to six, adding turning lanes, bike lanes, and sidewalks to better suit the needs of the community. A key challenge in this project centered around the design of the stormwater collection system with underdrains to avoid conflicts with existing underground utilities within the corridor. Additionally, we provided design, permitting, drainage analysis, environmental services, right-of-way acquisition evaluation, sound barrier wall design, utilities design, and construction plans preparation.

Today, this improved corridor serves as an important and efficient arterial to southern Pinellas County.
