Bakersfield Phase 2 10 MW Solar Farm

Algonquin Power (Algonquin) was developing a group of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Kern County, California. With an aggressive schedule to complete Phase 2 (SKIC-10 MW), Algonquin needed to accelerate some design and approval activities to meet Kern County requirements.

Because we had helped with some initial work for Phase 1, Algonquin asked us to provide project management and team coordination to assist with the preliminary engineering for Phase 2. This included detailed electrical, structural and civil engineering services to support all permitting requirements. Our team worked to optimize solar panel layout design, direct current collector system design, alternating current single line support, combiner box layouts, and cable trenching schedules. We also produced issued for construction drawings that included energy forecast modeling (using PVsyst software), solar farm layout, and electrical power distribution.

Utilizing solar and discipline experts from Portland, California, and Ontario, we provided the team and experience needed to complete this fast-tracked project.
