Barangaroo Solar PV

Engineering services to deliver a solar installation for one of the first C40 Cities Climate Positive Development Program participants

  • Sydney, New South Wales

    Sydney, New South Wales

As an early adopter of the C40 Cities program, Barangaroo is focused on becoming an urban community that reduces greenhouse gasses

Barangaroo is one of the first of many projects around the world participating in the C40 Cities Climate Positive Development Program. Leading as Australia's first carbon neutral community, Barangaroo will feature streamlined foundations with renewable energy and sustainable processes.

Our Energy and Structural consultants were engaged to support photovoltaic (PV) manufacturer, Sunpower, in delivering a solar PV installation to the entire Barangaroo project. Our structural engineering team designed raised platforms to support grouped PV arrays that would avoid shade from surrounding structures and limit the construction of parapet walls. We completed the string, earthing, bonding, and electrical protection designs so the high voltage (HV) connected precinct supports the embedded generation.

This solar PV project aligns with the C40 Cities program values by helping Barangaroo focus on becoming an urban community that reduces greenhouse gasses and serves as a model for cities to grow in an environmental, sustainable, and economically viable way.
