Living with Water Charrette
In September 2017, we organised and facilitated a two-day community charrette for the Hull and Haltemprice Living with Water Partnership to develop their Partnership Action Plan for water management in the community. The charrette—simply defined as a meeting of stakeholders to design solutions—included local charities, academics, businesses, and national and international experts.
The Living with Water Partnership (formerly the Hull and Haltemprice Integrated Strategic Drainage Board) was formed in response to major flooding in the community in 2007. The Partnership aims to reduce flood risk by delivering large-scale flood alleviation schemes, an integrated catchment model, property level protection, and a strong public engagement strategy embedded into its projects to bring people in the community together with a shared vision of water management, including plans for sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS).
Our charrette brought the community together to produce a detailed plan fully aligned to the ISO4001: 2017 Collaborative Business Relationship Management System. Recommendations within the plan have been actioned or incorporated into a 100-day plan for the partnership. In the months and years to come, the people of Hull and Haltemprice will enjoy a more resilient community— one grown from a multitude of informed, involved stakeholders with a shared vision for a more thriving city in the future.
