Samuel de Champlain Bridge – Independent Engineer

Designed in 1962 and used by millions of commuters each year, the Champlain Bridge, which connects Montreal and the South Shore, had reached the end of its service life and needed to be replaced. A new 3.4-kilometre, cable-stayed bridge was therefore built near the old bridge by a public-private partnership.

Along with Ramboll, our team took part in this major infrastructure project in Canada as independent engineer, overseeing the design conformity and overall quality of the project. Our multidisciplinary engineering and project management team conducted design, construction, and manufacturing quality audits, all with the goal of building a bridge that will last 125 years.

The project’s stringent environmental constraints included water, green spaces, fauna, air, and noise concerns. We ensured that environmental, health, and safety requirements were followed and followed up on the project’s Envision certification, which attests to the infrastructure’s sustainability.
