Highway 39 Corridor Improvements Design-Build
With growing industry and traffic between Weyburn and the United States Border, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways embarked on a multi-year strategy to upgrade nearly 100 kilometers of roadway along Highway 39 to improve safety and capacity. Our team’s recommended solution for this highway corridor included passing lanes, profile and cross-section improvements, repaving, intersection treatments, and access management modifications.
On behalf of the Ministry of Highways, Stantec led a diverse team of specialists as the owner’s engineer. We led the preliminary planning, pursuit, design-build, and post-construction phases of the project. Our team was responsible for the overall management of the project, preliminary design and analysis, land acquisition, development of contract requirements, review of detailed design, oversight, and auditing of construction activities for compliance, warranty inspections, and record drawing reviews.
With the construction of this project now complete, the highway provides enhanced safety and capacity for thousands of users daily.
