Hebron Gravity Based Structure
The Hebron field will use a stand-alone concrete Gravity Based Structure (GBS) designed to withstand sea ice, icebergs, and deep water ocean conditions. This structure will hold 1.2 million barrels of oil support an integrated topsides deck to perform drilling and production.
As part of a multi-consultant team, we’re providing technical support and engineering for the concrete mix design development as well as concrete quality assurance testing and inspection during construction. To support this mega-project, we have set up and staff an on-site CSA-certified concrete testing laboratory. To date, our field QA team has worked over 4,200 hours, during which time approximately 16,200 cubic meters of concrete has been placed for the GBS base slab. Our team recently received client praise for our consistent testing performance for this mega-project.
Construction and fabrication activities will proceed in parallel for several years. When the various topsides components are complete, they will all come together at the Bull Arm site for integration, hook-up and commissioning. The topsides and the GBS will then be mated, and the complete platform will be towed to the Hebron field.
