Enbridge Edmonton Terminal (South) Expansion

Enbridge was growing and it needed to meet the current demands of the industry, so they approached our team to help them design the Enbridge South Edmonton Terminal. We’ve had a steady relationship with Enbridge for several years, and they trusted our team as the consultant of choice to design their new $800 million expansion.

The facility would host five new, 80,000 cubic meter tanks, with an allowance for two future tanks. Our team designed the terminal buildout and was responsible for multiple aspects of the project, such as piping, structural, electrical, and instrumentation. We would also be tasked with civil engineering, planning tank foundations, site roads, and final grading. In addition, upgrades were designed for the firewater system, which included the construction of a firewater pond, pump house, and foam delivery systems.

Design complexity, poor soil conditions, and a tight schedule posed interesting challenges for our team. We had to ensure a collaborative work schedule with other companies—but working together, our team was able to implement safe strategies and get the job done on time and on budget.
