Broadway Subway
Committed to providing efficient, safe, and affordable transportation, the Province of British Columbia (BC) is delivering the Broadway Subway Project. This extension of the existing SkyTrain rapid transit line with six new underground stations will help meet the needs of the growing community—the second largest job center in BC.
Acting as owner’s engineer, our team worked with TransLink and the Province to develop a reference concept for the project including utility relocations, track alignment, tunnel design, station design, and traffic modelling. The reference concept involves an autonomous rapid transit system along both elevated guideway and tunnel alignments, weaving throughout one of the busiest multimodal transportation corridors in the region. It considers many constraints, respects interfaces with existing facilities and future developments, and balances potential disruption to various user groups during construction.
Our experts worked closely with the clients and stakeholders to produce a reference concept design alignment that balances the constraints and accommodates the corridor’s future potential. This project will benefit transit riders by providing faster, convenient, and more reliable transit service that reduces travel time and congestion.
