Empowering sustainable development
Achieving the United Nation’s ambitions for their sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement is highly dependent on the mobilization of financial resources, particularly private capital. The European Union’s (EU) Global Gateway initiative is a response to the need for high-quality infrastructure investment for sustainable development and climate action—that’s where the Sustainable Finance Advisory Hub comes in.
The EU established the Hub to assist low- and middle-income communities in North and Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific, the Western Balkans and Türkiye, in creating a conducive environment for sustainable finance. It will also aid them in issuing green bonds and utilize other sustainability-related financial instruments. Our role is to serve as the secretariat for the Hub, providing technical, administrative, and logistical support to stakeholders, including the European Commission and other implementing partners.
Through these efforts, the project will jumpstart private sector investment in sustainable development and climate action. Ultimately, it will enhance the financial resilience and sustainability efforts of participant countries, contributing directly to the achievement of the Paris Agreement and SDGs.
