Far North Collector Road - Moss Vale Road Connection
Fully funded by the Australian Federal Government, the AUD$32.8 million Far North Collector Road project included the design and construction of a sub-arterial road on the northern outskirts of Nowra. The Shoalhaven City Council engaged us to provide construction superintendent services for the administration of the construction contract for the link road connection to Moss Vale Road, as well as acting for as project verifier for one of the roundabouts located at this connection point.
During the construction phase, the Council extended our services to include a detailed geotechnical review and direction for road foundation improvement works. We also conducted a creek bank batter stability assessment and scour protection as well as settlement monitoring and reporting. One of our major challenges was dealing with unsuitable foundation materials and the construction of four major bridge structures, particularly around construction staging.
When completed, the sub-arterial road will provide a connection to residential developments in the Moss Vale Road urban release area. It includes two roundabouts, five bridges, two kilometres (one mile) of new road, and supporting safety systems, drainage, and asset protection.
