Wyndham Street and Hayes Street Signalised Intersection Upgrade
Shepparton, a thriving regional centre, is situated in the Goulburn Valley region in Victoria, Australia. Looking to prepare for increased traffic volumes, our team was previously engaged to complete a study on the Shepparton CBD inner east link road. It incorporated concept designs for five intersection upgrades to facilitate the bypass, including the Wyndham Street (which connects to the Goulburn Valley Highway) and Hayes Street signalised intersection.
Following the study, we were engaged by the Department of Transport and Planning Victoria (DTP) to prepare a functional layout, traffic signal layout, and civil detailed design and documentation for the Wyndham Street and Hayes Street intersection, upgrading it from a priority-controlled intersection to a signalised intersection. Our design incorporated raised safety platforms on the Wyndham Street on approach to the intersection as well as pedestrian and cycling safety improvements. A safe system assessment was completed to align with safe system principles and to confirm the proposed design would deliver road safety improvements over and above existing conditions.
The intersection, along with the pedestrian and cycling facilities, will provide seamless connection to a future strategic cycling corridor project.
