Western Sydney Airport - Water Quality Monitoring Program

To meet increasing aviation needs in a growing region, the new Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport will be Sydney’s second international airport—named Nancy Bird Walton International Airport after the Australian aviator. Situated on a 1,780-hectare site in Badgerys creek, the airport will operate 24 hours a day and is expected to accommodate 10 million annual passengers per year after opening, with the capacity to grow to 82 million passengers per year in 30–40 years.

Western Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (WSA Co) engaged our team to provide water quality monitoring as part of the construction of the airport. Our work included extensive surface water monitoring and reporting monthly, and groundwater monitoring and reporting quarterly. The large-scale and ever-changing conditions of this complex infrastructure project required constant adaptability from our team. This adaptability was key in establishing the monitoring program’s effectiveness and reliability in supporting the airport's development, while helping to meet water quality standards and environmental compliance obligations.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with WSA Co to provide dependable water quality information and data, helping them meet their environmental requirements and obligations.
