Augusta Parkway Duplication
Greater Springfield is Australia’s second largest masterplanned community, with Augusta Parkway forming a major arterial road connection linking the area to surrounding suburbs and Ipswich CBD. During the area’s initial development, the road was constructed with two-lanes—however, the growing needs of the community soon required it to be duplicated into a four-lane roadway.
We were appointed as principal engineering consultant on this project, which included creating an on-road cycle lane and managing sub-consultants in addition to duplicating the road. The project extends over four kilometres and incorporates a new roundabout, three signalised intersections, and a new two-lane bridge. Works involved eastern-end ties into an existing bridge, western-end ties into a signalised intersection, and three ties into to existing roundabouts.
Over the course of our work, we also acted as design and supervising consultant for several adjoining projects triggered by the development of the road corridor. By managing all these projects, we could deliver all enabling infrastructure in a single operation, saving money due to the project’s economy of scale and avoiding significant re-works associated with completing subsequent works at separate stages.
