Joel is a professional geoscientist and has been practicing in environmental assessment and remediation for brownfield, transportation, and energy projects since 2003. He’s recognized as a qualified person (QPESA) under Ontario Regulation 153/04, and he has over 19 years of experience in contaminated site assessment and remediation, including 10 years in insurance claim and litigation support and peer review. Leveraging this expertise, Joel currently provides leadership for our excess soil projects in Ontario and is a member of Qualified Persons Community of Ontario (QPCO).
On a recent project in Toronto, Joel led a team of environmental professionals and technologists to assess several adjacent derelict properties. The goal? A remediation plan to address historical soil and groundwater contamination; Joel’s expertise includes assessment and remediation planning for a wide range of hydrocarbon, chlorinated solvent, and metals-contaminated soils and groundwater. The remediation plan led to the transformation of a 3-acre (1.2 hectare) property from vacant former industrial lands into a vibrant residential community.
As an avid gardener, Joel enjoys time outdoors, always seeking to improve on last year’s crop of home-grown vegetables. And—as time and family commitments permit—Joel likes to enjoy a walk on the golf course with friends, colleagues, or clients.
