Focused on strengthening communities, Phil is a planner and urban designer. He’s particularly interested in the power of urban design, working to help make communities more affordable and accessible through actionable plans that stimulate revitalized neighborhoods, walkable streets, and equitable development.
Phil integrates his architecture background with market economics, transportation, and public policy to create progressive plans tailored to the unique situation of each community and client. He’s developed plans for downtown and neighborhood revitalization efforts, mixed-use and mixed-income neighborhoods, transit-oriented development, campus planning, and private development. Among recent initiatives, Phil has developed strategic investment plans for three upstate New York cities to help transform their downtowns into vibrant communities.
In all the work he does, Phil finds it so rewarding to see cities and developers make use of market-based, community-supported plans to help generate positive change.
