As a principal scientist and vice president with our research group, Joan is responsible for creating opportunities to fund, perform, and publish the findings of innovative projects focused on solving water quality concerns. These solutions typically revolve around the adaptation of innovative treatment technologies or modification of operational protocols to mitigate emerging water quality issues.
No matter how detailed the work, Joan is known for never losing sight of the big picture. This requires an ability to view issues from all perspectives, prioritize what is most important and logically communicate thought processes With close to 40 years of experience, she enjoys working with and mentoring younger staff, watching their careers develop, and helping others to think creatively and overcome obstacles.
When she’s not at work, you’ll find Joan spending time with family and pets, hiking making her own non-dairy cheese, gardening, and cooking and baking delicious healthy food. She also serves on the board of a local philanthropic chapter of Assistance League.
