With over 55 years of aviation experience, Erv has spent half that time as an aviation planner with Stantec. His diverse background as a professional planner, pilot, former air traffic controller, and college professor equips him with an extensive understanding of aviation planning. He leverages his skills to educate on the intricate relationship between airplanes, air traffic control, airspace, and their roles at airports of all sizes.
Over his career, Erv has led the completion of over 50 aviation planning studies, including airport master plans, layout plan updates, airspace obstruction analyses, noise studies, and other airside and landside planning studies. One of his fundamental values is presentation—he says anyone can learn the ins and outs of airport planning, but it will all be in vain if you can’t present your work to the public with confidence and conviction.
Outside work, Erv likes to read about the United States’ history—particularly the years leading up to and during the Revolutionary War period. If it’s summer, you’ll find him in his garden with his wife of over 50 years, tending to their small flock of chickens.
