The opportunity to play a key role solving California’s water challenges is why Janet moved to Sacramento in 1996. Since then, she’s dedicated her career to protecting, storing, and distributing water supplies without impacting the environment—especially the endangered fish protected by her fish screens.
Janet’s solutions to high-profile projects align cost with budget, streamline regulatory agency approvals, and manage the inherent risk of river construction. The Sacramento River Joint Intake and Fish Screen project is a great example of Janet’s dedication. After 15 years of planning, design, and coordination, she successfully delivered a $58-million intake/pump station with a technically-advanced fish screen system.
While the future of water is still a risky prospect, Janet is confident that infrastructure can be radically improved. To this end, she works closely with water agencies and multidisciplinary scientists and engineers to refine fish screen and conveyance system design.
