Through our 65th anniversary scholarship donations, we donated to five deserving military groups
One of our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) here at Stantec focuses on our military and veteran employees, and their families. The purpose of this ERG is to generate awareness, support veterans transitioning to Stantec for their career, educating leaders on military skillsets, participate in community events, and leverage military experience as a competitive advantage. In 2019, Stantec donated $65,000 to post-secondary institutions and organizations to celebrate our 65th anniversary as a company. Five of those donations went to fantastic military and veteran organizations in the United States.
Hope for the Warriors is an independent non-profit organization founded by military families in North Carolina. The organization provides comprehensive support programs for those currently serving, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition back into daily life.
In 2006, the Spouse/Caregiver scholarship program was created at Hope for the Warriors. This program identifies, recognizes, and rewards post-9/11 spouses/caregivers and Gold Star Spouses for their strength, fidelity, and resolve despite adversity as they assume critical roles in the financial wellbeing of their families. In 2019, Hope for the Warriors rewarded 18 scholarships and since 2006, 142 scholarships, totalling just over $412,000 has been donated.
NMFA have been standing behind service members and their families for the past 50 years. Through the support and programs they provide, the association always looks out for the families who stand behind the uniform and for those who serve.
The Military Spouse Scholarship helps prepare military spouses for meaningful employment. In 2019, NMFA received nearly 7,000 completed applications for the scholarship program which saw more than $700,000 in donations. These donations were given to spouses of service members from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Led by a national board of directors consisting of mostly women, the U.S. Army Women’s Foundation is passionate about their mission to honor, empower, and connect with today’s army women and veterans. In 1969, a group of women soldiers formed the foundation to remember and honor their service and help provide support future women who have worn the US Army uniform.
With the help of the Legacy Scholarship, established in 2008, over $445,000 in scholarship donations have gone towards army women to help them achieve their academic and career goals.
Modern Military is the nation’s largest non-profit organization for the LGBTQ military and veteran community.
In 2019, Modern Military launched the MilPride Scholarship that is focused on supporting LGBTQ children with parents that are actively serving in our armed forces. The organization is working with the Department of Defense schools to create community-based education programs that address the needed support factors and proactively lift up the kids as they look to post-secondary opportunities. By providing military kids scholarships, especially when highlighting STEM careers, Modern Military is reminding these kids that their identities should have no limitations on their future life goals.
We are proud to support and donate scholarships to organizations that give back to the people who need it most, and we believe veterans and their families are an important part of our communities.
