Stantec’s teams will deliver vital outline and detailed designs for sustainable water and wastewater solutions across the north west

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been appointed to United Utilities’ £269 million Design Development Partners (DDP) Framework. The interdisciplinary firm will support the water company with essential design services throughout the AMP8 period and beyond. The framework is structured with an initial term of six years, with options to extend for up to five more years.
The DDP Framework will see Stantec work collaboratively with United Utilities and its Strategic Solutions Partner to support the delivery of major improvements across its water and wastewater networks. Nature-based, blue/green, and hybrid solutions are expected to be major focus areas on the framework as the water company rolls out its AMP8 programme in line with its values.
United Utilities’ ambitious proposals focus on delivering cleaner rivers, more reliable water supplies and improvements to services for customers, communities and the environment. This includes addressing spills from combined sewer overflows and future-proofing a large number of wastewater treatment plants and bioresource schemes.
Stantec has worked closely with United Utilities for a number of years, providing essential design resources and innovative, sustainable solutions to the organisation. Stantec’s teams are currently delivering outline and detailed design for 11 Better River projects for the water company, helping reduce spills from overflows, create improvements in river quality, and bring storage solutions that will support United Utilities’ AMP8 commitments.

Stantec is also supporting the Integrated Water Management Plan in Manchester working alongside Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Environment Agency, and United Utilities in a first-of-its-kind partnership that plans for and manages all elements of the water cycle.
Stantec’s placement on the United Utilities DDP Framework follows successful AMP8 framework appointments for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, South West Water, Northumbrian Water, Southern Water, and Thames Water.
