Stantec appointed to Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s AMP8 Engineering Consultancy Framework

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been appointed to provide a range of consultancy services on Dŵr Cymru Cyfyngedig’s AMP8 Engineering Consultancy Framework. The water company, referred to as Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, will now leverage Stantec’s local presence and expertise in collaboration with other suppliers on the framework when delivering its £4 billion programme.

The framework, which will run for a period of four years with the option to extend for another four, will see Stantec providing feasibility and optioneering services alongside other suppliers. These will help Welsh Water identify and deliver the most effective and sustainable water solutions as part of its capital delivery programme.

Stantec’s teams will carry out root cause analysis, modelling, solution evaluation, and environmental assessments to help achieve Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s ambitious affordability, outcome, and sustainability objectives throughout AMP8 and beyond.

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water provides water and sewerage services to more than 3 million people living and working in Wales as well as some adjoining parts of England. It operates 838 wastewater treatment works, 66 impounding reservoirs, 63 water treatment works, and supplies an average 828 million litres of water daily through a network of 26,500 kilometres of water mains. The framework will support the maintenance, upgrade, and expansion of this large network of assets, ensuring a reliable supply of clean water and the management of wastewater across 30,000 kilometres of sewers.

Stantec’s appointment comes within a continued period of growth and success for the business across the UK and Ireland. With more than 3,000 employees and 30 offices across these regions, the design and engineering firm is working closely with water companies, governments, local authorities, and communities to help support water network resilience, improved water quality, and the environment.
