Texas A&M University-San Antonio, Science & Technology Building

Texas A&M San Antonio has nearly doubled their student population in the last five years as they transition from a two to a four-year university. The school needed a new academic building to help support their growing population and jumpstart the ultimate build-out their campus master plan—we were there to help.

The Science and Technology Building helps students transition to college, and later, the workplace, providing academic and career counseling, interview prep and wardrobe support, as well as opportunities for community service, civic engagement, internships and more. The building includes common spaces, kinesiology, classrooms, and labs, were designed to allow 24/7 access for students. High quality room dividers, special audiovisual accommodations, and lighting options allowed the rooms to function as a pair of small classrooms. It provides much needed labs and classrooms for the University, including dedicated areas for exercise biology, kinesiology, a human performance lab, a health and fitness lab, an experiential learning space, as well as chemistry and biology teaching and research space.

In addition to the delivery of the original program within the set budget, our efficient design of this building allowed an extra 22,000 square foot addition—it also opened a semester early.
