Rathdrum Power

When the state of Idaho needed a power supply that met the discharge and water reuse requirements of local authorities, our team—in conjunction with an engineering, procurement, and construction team—designed a new natural gas fire combined cycle power plant with a 270-megawatt capacity and a zero liquid discharge waste water system.

This two-stage cooling system uses a multi-cell cooling tower and is responsible for the onsite disposal of all process wastewater. Our design for this facility also includes a General Electric 7A combustion turbine, three pressure heat recovery steam generators with a selective catalytic reduction system and carbon monoxide catalyst, a general electric reheat condensing steam turbine, and a 230-kilovolt switchyard.

This combined cycle power plant is operated as an independent power producer that generates electricity which is delivered to the Bonneville Power Administration utility. The scope of our work includes detailed engineering and design, procurement assistance, and construction and start-up support for the project.
